RAPTOR PHOTO CONTEST

Wanted: 13 great photographs of soaring eagles, inquisitive owls and other birds of prey.  The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program invites amateur and professional photographers to submit their favorite photos of birds of prey native to Colorado.  The top 13 photographs will be included in its 2014 Raptor Photo Calendar, an important source of revenue for the non-profit organization.

Photographs may be taken in the wild or in captivity. The 13 best entries will also be published on the RMRP web site. Winning photographers will receive a free copy of the calendar, retain copyright of their photos and grant RMRP the right to publish.

A $20 fee will be collected for each photographer’s first entry; additional photos may be submitted for five dollars each. Photos must be received by 5 P.M., July 1.  Final judging and notification will occur by August 1.

Judy Scherpelz, RMRP Executive Director, explains the technical requirements for the photographs: “The finished calendar will be approximately 10 inches by 12 inches. Photos must be at least 300 dpi at 12 inches wide – approximately 1 MB or larger. Minor photo image editing is acceptable, but please indicate it. All entries must be submitted on a CDR, flash drive or comparable electronic media. We will not accept e-mail entries.”

Please send all entries to 2519 S. Shields St. #115 Fort Collins, CO 80526.  Checks for the entry fee should be made out to RMRP.  If you wish to pay by credit card, please call the center.
